Genuine Leather Sofa Care: A Step-by-Step Guide

Daily care, conditioning, stain removal and what to avoid, so your genuine leather sofa stays beautiful for years.

Daily and weekly care

Dust your leather sofa once a week with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Use a soft brush around the tufted buttons. If needed, wipe with a well-wrung, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately.

How do I condition leather?

Leather stays soft and supple as long as it keeps its natural oils. Every few months, clean it with a pH-neutral leather cleaner and apply a leather conditioner (cream or balm). Always test on a hidden spot first.

What to do about stains

  • For spills, blot immediately with a clean cloth — never rub.
  • For grease, sprinkle talcum powder, leave it for a while, then brush it off.
  • For ink and stubborn stains, do not experiment at home; choose professional leather cleaning.

What should I avoid?

  • Direct sunlight: it fades and dries the leather.
  • Placing the sofa too close to radiators, stoves or fireplaces: it dries and can crack the leather.
  • Alcohol, ammonia, bleach and wet wipes: they damage the protective surface.

Is patina a defect?

No. With use, full-grain leather deepens in lustre and develops a unique patina — a natural sign of genuine leather and fine craftsmanship that makes every sofa one of a kind.
